What is Respite Care?

respite care

Santé has a compassionate team available to help patients get the care they need. Whether it’s from one of our rehabilitation locations or a home health aide. As we work to provide a continuum of care that focuses on providing the best possible experience for patients and their loved ones, we understand that caregivers need relief too.

While we equip our in-house team with the tools they need to remain compassionate and healthy, we often see family members who suffer emotionally and physically as they take on the great responsibility of caring for a loved one. Respite care is designed to temporarily take over caregiving duties and provide support to the primary caregiving relationship.

Defining Respite Care

Simply put, respite care provides relief for a family member or unpaid caregiver. The type and duration of care can look different depending on your needs, ranging from a couple of hours a day to a limited stay at a care facility.

Why Respite?

Relying on respite care services can not only provide a short break for a family caregiver, but it can also help sustain their health and wellbeing. By caring for your own wellness as a caregiver, you are in turn caring for your loved one.

Creating a Respite Plan

Whether it’s a home health aide, or more help from family members, creating a respite plan is essential. The team at Santé encourages families to come together in a time of need, but we know not every situation is perfect. That’s why we provide home health services that support a variety of needs.
